Saturday 2nd June : Depart Brisbane for overnight flight to Kansai International Airport
Sunday 3rd June : On arrival, clear customs and immigration formalities and meet with our English Speaking Guide and travel by chartered coach to the Karasuma Kyoto Hotel for our overnight stay.
Monday 4th June : Breakfast and meet with our English Speaking Guide and travel by chartered coach through to Takayama in the Japan Alps. This afternoon after lunch we will visit Hida-No-Sato which is a collection of buildings set in a village with some dating back to 1751.
Accommodation: Hida Plaza Hotel for our two (2) nights stay.
Tuesday 5th June : Breakfast. For those wishing to rise early the morning markets are worth a visit. At 9:00 am we will meet with our Guide and visit the Takayama Jinja which is a palace that was used as an Administrator’s Office and residence from 1692 until 1868. It is the only building of its kind still standing. Visit the Kusakabe Folk Museum and then onto the Yatai Kaikan which displays floats used in the Takayama Festival which is renowned as one of the finest Festivals in Japan. Afternoon at leisure to stroll the historic streets which preserve the atmosphere of the old Edo era town.
Wednesday 6th June : After breakfast we depart with our Guide and coach to Gujo Hachiman where we will experience making the replica wax food models. Onto the World Heritage Listed village of Shirakawa-go, lunch and sightseeing. After lunch we continue onto Gokayama which is another World Heritage Listed village and here we will try our hand at Japanese paper Making. Through to Kanazawa and the Hotel Kanazawa for our two (2) night stay.
Thursday 7th June : Breakfast, meet with our Guide and coach and this morning we will experience making Pottery by handworking techniques. Lunch and then to the beautiful Kenrokuen Gardens which are one of the three most famous in Japan. In the Gardens is the Seison-kaku which was built by the 13th Lord of the Maeda family as a retirement residence for his mother. Our last stop will be the Old Licensed Quarters.
Friday 8th June : This morning after breakfast we will visit Hakuichi to see Gold Leaf Productions and work with the gold leaf. Kanazawa produces 98% of the gold leaf produced in Japan. Afternoon at leisure.
Saturday 9th June : Breakfast and we will transfer to Kyoto by chartered coach. Accommodation at the Karasuma Kyoto Hotel for four (4) nights. Afternoon at leisure.
Sunday 10th June : This morning we will meet with our Guide and coach and experience the dying of a Silk Georgette Scarf. After Lunch enjoy Ukiyoe (Wood Block Printing).
Monday 11th June : Our Guide and coach will meet with us this morning and we will spend time learning the art of Japanese Calligraphy. Lunch and afternoon at leisure.
Tuesday 12th June: Free Day
Wednesday 13th June : This morning please check out of your room and we will transfer by coach to Kansai International Airport for our departure flight to Australia.
Thursday 14th June: Arrive Brisbane/Sydney.
