The Hakuba Valley is located in the "heart" of Japan -a 3 hour scenic rail journey from Tokyo-and offers the most diverse and picturesque ski terrain of all.

As the site of the 1998 Winter Olympics, Hakuba is highly regarded as a world class destination. From the southern end of the valley Sun Alpina Sanosaka incorporates 3 ski areas to the linked resorts of Hakuba 47 and Hakuba Goryu and the Olympic ski resort of Happo-One situated in the centre of Hakuba. At the northern end of the valley, the resorts of Iwatake, Tsugaike, and Norikura and Cortina offer an amazing range of ski runs, lifts and terrain conditions.

Happo-One (pronounced Happo Oh-neh) closest to the centre of Hakuba village is the largest ski resort in Hakuba Valley and also has the largest above tree line skiable snow in all Japan.
