Yamagata Zao Onsen Ski Areas

Zao Hot Springs Ski Resort can be enjoyed by everyone from young people through to seniors as there is such a  diverse array of courses. Many skiers and boarders return every year to Mt Zao because they are guaranteed a high quality of snow. The symbol of Mt Zao is the
natural wonder that is the ice monsters standing against a backdrop of pale white snow. The Maries Fir trees become covered in fine snow and ice until they become ice monsters. This natural work of art is made possible by Yamagata's unique winter climate.
Imagine skiing between these ice monsters during the day and viewing them again in the evening as they become engulfed in the lights that cover the ski fields. This experience is unique to Mt Zao.
The sking and hot springs areas are located in close proximity to each other and after skiing or boarding down the slopes it is possible to end up right in the middle of the Zao Hot Springs Resort. What better way to end the day then a soak in the natural hot springs followed by a wonderful Japanese meal.
